Members of AV Champion YouthBuild and community dignitaries on Wednesday help raise a wall for the community room at Palmdale's Neighborhood House No. 2

PALMDALE – A ceremony Wednesday marked the raising of a wall for the community room that will be part of the city’s Neighborhood House No. 2, which will serve as a community center and provide information about public safety, housing and a variety of city programs.

Part of the Partners for a Better Palmdale program, the house at 1129 East Ave. R-4 is being reconstructed with help from AV Champion YouthBuild.

“I see a lot of pride here,” Mayor Jim Ledford said at Wednesday’s ceremony.

“It’s a proud moment because what we are doing today will have implications 30 years from now.

“It’s especially good to see all these young people who have been working hard, hopefully to learn a trade that will inspire them to purse a career path,” Ledford said.
